Winifred Barnum-Newman is an award-winning author, illustrator, poet, painter, sculptor and designer. She is internationally recognized as the author and illustrator of her own books as well as an illustrator of the work of others. Two of her books have garnered options for television projects. She has written screen treatments, newspaper articles and created a number of characters for proposed animated series. Her extensive work spans print, stage, television and multi-media. She is also the creator of TJ LUV, the mascot for Southwest Airlines.
Barnum's paintings, bronzes and sculpture are in national and international collections. A belief in the equality and acceptance of all people and the desire to inspire others to work to eliminate prejudice is reflected throughout her work and her life.
